Dan Hicks, Hot Licks. Last show of a long tour that
reportedly included many hours on the road, from Ohio to Rhode Island I think?
But the band showed not a lick of weariness. Fresh as could be, in fine voice
and enthusiastic. Of course, a poke at Kent, OH (when will this national
fascination with picking on OH be over?) and whining about being left out of
70's compilations were all in good fun. And funny. Fun and funny.The audience was just perfect and that's what I really love about this venue.
I've seen Dan there 3 or 4 times? and it has always been a really fine show
because folks show up to listen. If you're in PA or MI, try to make his next
show at Kent. It's kind of hippie town with low to decent, moderate motels and
the folks who run these shows could use the support. You will not be
disappointed. Dan delivers some of his finest here.There you have it, Zimba.
