Hello all,

This was a fantastic show! The Colonial Theatre in Pittsfield, MA has been
refurbished and is a lovely venue with superb acoustics and a very cozy
atmosphere. John Hammond performed the first set, filled with original and
borrowed tunes. He was celebrating his 50th year on the road, and seems to have
aged like a fine wine.

Dan didn't disappoint, showcasing some tunes from "Last Train to Hicksville" as
well as more recent numbers. The familiar humorous interludes between musical
selections provided lots of laughs - "keeping it light, like in life," as Dan
mentioned in his WAMC interview a few days ago. I can't think of many reasons
to drive an hour and a half (each way) through wind, rain and fog, but Dan Hicks
and the Hot Licks qualifies as worthy of such a trip.

Let's hope for many more shows like this one!
