Dan Hicks & His Hot Licks - Original Recordings
1969

Originally released on Epic Records, a subsidiary of Columbia. Now available on CD from Sony Music on their "Collectors Series" label (WK 75053).

While he was still with the Charlatans, Dan started doing shows with his own band, billed as Dan Hicks and His Hot Licks. This album chronicles the early Hot Licks era. Sid Page and Jaime Leopold, who stayed with the Hot Licks through their heyday, join Dan, along with backing vocals from Sherry Snow and Christina Viola Gancher.

Two of the songs on this album – "Canned Music", and "I Scare Myself" – appear in later recordings, and are prominent in Dan's repertoire to the present day.

Note: We have come across two vinyl pressings that list the song "Jukies' Ball" on the record label as "Junkies Ball".
