Re: House of Blues New Orleans Show
Date: Wed, 25 Oct 2000 09:27:40 -0500You're so right about Dan somehow always falling under the radar in this city. One of my fantasies is Dan doing Jazzfest someday. I'll be keeping my eyes open for any reviews from the show and will send them to "you all". The show was fantastic! Initially I was worried because the guy at the door said they only sold 50 tickets and seemed to have an attitude like "who is this guy anyway?". Promotion was non-existent on local radio. However, by show time they had about 200+. It was the perfect atmosphere. Dan seemed jazzed up and was really moving around the stage a lot. They did two sets with about a 35 minute break. On the second set Dan did some excellent drummin.
As I expected, Dan was quite entertaining between the songs. The Lickettes were great, as was the entire band. I tried, but couldn't jot down the names. I would appreciate them if you happen to know. They didn't have any cd's or Dan stuff for sale.
Play list was:
1. Canned Music
2. Strike It While It's Hot
3. Milk Shakin' Mama
4. Collared Blues
5. Somebody Tell Me The Truth
6. 'Long Come A Viper
7. I Scare Myself (original version)
8. Where's The Money
9. I Got A Capo On My Brain
10. I don't Want Love
11. By Hook Or By Crook
12. How Can I Miss You When You Won't Go Away
13.The Piano Has Been Drinkin'
14.Wild About My Love
15. Payday Blues
16. Chattanooga Shoeshine Boy
17. My Cello
18. Sure Beats Me
19. The Buzzard Was Their Friend
20.End Of A Love Affair
21.Four Or Five TimesHe also did an encore but somehow I forgot to jot it down. It was 2 or 3 more tunes. What an evening! The place was swinging in unison. Christmas came early for me last night:)
