To: shorty@danhicks.netGreat show......this was my 3rd time seeing Dan at the Ramshead, and will
go every time he plays there.......you can't beat the intimacy of the
place......Dan Haas, a local musician, opened up for the Hot Licks....he
was pretty good, and he got the crowd warmed up with some audience
interaction.......I can't remember if Dan did this the other 2 times I saw
him, but he was the first one out on stage, while it was dark, to set
up......then the others came out slowly to set up.......he opened with
"Canned Music", with an extra lyric about music on the internet.......he
seemed to be in good spirits and was his usual funny self......the neat
thing about watching Dan perform is that he has this habit of really
staring into the audience during a song.....can be a little startling if
it's you he's fixated on......he introduced "Long Come a Viper" by saying
that it was "about a Viper......who came along....".....and that was all
we needed to know about that.......on this night, he introduced himself as
Howard Stern, and followed that with a "F**k You", which got a good
laugh......when someone called out a request, he said that yes, they'd be
taking requests.......for the following nights performance in
Philly........he also promised us that they'd give us our 25 dollars worth
tonight and billed the Hot Licks as the "band who respects your
intelligence"......a good show, and when he gets to the Ramshead again, I
will most definitely be there......Set List:
1 Canned Music

3 'Long Come a Viper
